Full height shutters

Full height shutters: one panel, top to bottom.

The simplest style, and it suits almost any window. Each panel covers the whole height of the window, so it looks clean from inside and out. Tilt the louvres for light, close them for privacy, or fold the panels right back.

Why people choose them

What full height shutters do well

  • The cleanest look

One panel from top to bottom, with nothing breaking it up. From outside, the window looks neat and the same all the way down.

  • The whole window covered

Close the panels and nothing is left uncovered, top or bottom, so the room feels private at any time of day.

  • Light and privacy with one touch

Tilt the louvres to let light in while keeping your privacy from the street, or open the panels right back when you want the whole window clear.

  • Works almost anywhere

Bedrooms, living rooms, landings, bays and tall period windows. If you are unsure which style to choose, full height is the safe choice.

Worth thinking about

Before you choose full height

  • One panel, top to bottom

Each panel opens as one piece. With a rail across the middle, the top and bottom louvres can be set to tilt separately (split tilt), but if you want to fold the top half back on its own, look at tier-on-tier instead.

  • Room to swing open

Taller panels swing into the room, so we check for furniture, radiators and anything on the windowsill. On wide windows, panels can fold back in pairs to take up less room.

  • Window handles

We set the louvres and the frame so handles and locks are clear, and tell you at the visit if a window needs anything different.

Questions

Full height shutters: your questions

Are full height shutters good for a bedroom?

Yes, they are a good choice for bedrooms. With the panels closed and the louvres shut, the room is much darker and nobody can see in. They are not blackout, though: a thin line of light still comes in round the edges.

How many panels will my window have?

It depends on the width. We split each window into panels of a sensible width, so they are not too heavy and do not swing too far into the room, and line them up with the window frame where we can. We go through the layout with you at the visit, before anything is ordered.

Can you fit full height shutters on a tall window?

Yes. On a tall window we can add a mid-rail (a rail across the panel), which keeps it strong and lines up with the window, while still opening as one panel. Matt will suggest where it goes at the visit.

Is full height right for your windows?

Book a free home visit. Matt measures every window, brings samples and tells you honestly which style suits each one. Made to measure and fitted in roughly 4 to 6 weeks from confirmation of your order.
