What shutters do in a bedroom
Much darker at night
Close the panels and the louvres and the room is much darker. A little light still gets in round the edges, so they are not blackout.
Privacy, with the light still in
Tilt the louvres so they slope down towards the room, and people outside cannot see in, while daylight still comes in.
A soft start to the morning
Open the louvres a little and let the daylight in gradually, without opening the panels.
No cords
No cords or chains hanging down, which matters in a child's room.

Bedroom shutters: your questions
Which way should I tilt the louvres for privacy in a bedroom?
Tilt them so the edge facing the room is lower than the edge facing the window. From the street, people look up at the slats and cannot see in, while you still see the sky and the daylight still comes in.
Can I sleep with the window open and the shutters closed?
Usually, on windows that open outwards or slide: open the window first, then close the panels and tilt the louvres for air. Tilt and turn windows open into the room, so see our tilt and turn page or ask Matt at the visit.
