Privacy notice
Last updated 4 November 2026
This notice explains what personal information Hush Shutters collects, why, and what your rights are.
Who we are
Hush Shutters is a trading name of Matthew Groves, who is the data controller for the information described here. Email: hello@hushshutters.com.
What we collect
- What you tell us when you ring, email or use our contact form: your name, phone number, email address, postcode and address, and details about your windows.
- Photos of your windows, if you email them to us.
- Details of your order, quote, payments and any aftercare.
- Records of calls to our phone line.
- If you reach our website from a Google advert, a click reference from Google, stored with your form message so we can see which adverts lead to enquiries.
- Anonymous visitor statistics (see our cookies notice).
Why we use it
- To reply to you, arrange a visit, and send your quote (taking steps at your request before a contract).
- To make, fit and look after your shutters (performing our contract with you).
- To keep business and tax records (a legal obligation).
- To ask for a review after fitting, which we ask every customer for (our legitimate interest in getting feedback).
- To understand which adverts and pages bring enquiries (our legitimate interest in running the business; Google cookies only with your consent).
- If you ask us to, to pass your details to the Bristol Windows and Doors team, run by the same owner, about a window or door repair.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for marketing unless you've agreed.
Who we share it with
- Our website host and form provider, Netlify, which stores contact-form messages.
- Our email provider, Google Workspace, and Resend, which delivers your website enquiry to our inbox.
- Plausible Analytics, for anonymous visitor statistics, and Google Analytics, Google Ads and Microsoft Clarity, only if you accept cookies.
- The maker of your shutters, who receives the sizes and details needed to make them, but not your contact details unless delivery requires it.
- Our accountant, for business records.
Netlify, Resend, Google and Microsoft may store information in the USA. Where they do, the transfer is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK-US data bridge or approved contract clauses.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't go ahead: deleted after 12 months.
- Customers: kept for 10 years after your shutters are fitted, so we can look after your shutters for years to come, and to meet tax rules. Then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or give you a copy to take elsewhere. You can object to how we use it, and withdraw any consent you've given at any time. We'll reply within one month. Email hello@hushshutters.com.
