Shutters and moving home
Just moved in
New windows, new rooms, new neighbours looking in. Shutters are made to measure, so book the visit early: they are usually made in around 4 to 6 weeks from your order.
Decorating or new windows first?
If new windows are going in, we measure once they are fitted. If you are decorating, we fit after the painting.
Selling your home
Shutters are fixed to the windows, so they normally stay with the house, unless you agree something different with your buyer. List them on the fittings and contents form your solicitor sends, so your buyer knows they are included.
Moving home: your questions
Can I take my shutters with me when I move?
In most cases it is not worth it. Shutters are made to fit one window exactly, so they are very unlikely to fit the windows in your next home. They are usually left with the house.
Can you measure before I have moved in?
Often, yes, if the owner is happy for us to visit and the windows will not change. Bear in mind that once we order, made-to-measure shutters cannot be cancelled, so many people wait until the sale has completed. If new windows are going in first, we measure once they are fitted.
We bought a house with shutters on some windows. Can you do the rest?
Yes, we can measure for new shutters on any of the windows and bring samples so you can choose. We only repair shutters we fitted ourselves, so we cannot alter or repair the existing ones (see "Do you repair shutters?" in our FAQ).
